I recently covered the Why, When, What of Social Media and how to know your perfect client. Now that we know the basics and exactly who we're targeting, we can create social media content that will attract our Perfect Clients like bees to honey.

5 Kinds of Social Content that Attract your Perfect Client

As a Salon Consultant I’ve found there are 5 types of content you must post to attract your ideal clientele.

1. Authentic

Let people see you and your team so they get to know you as real people. Post about what you do in your day-to-day, for example your team meetings or morning teas. Show your Perfect Client your salon in action and your team hard at work. Not only will people have more respect for the effort you put into your services, they’ll feel more connected to your business.

2. Trending Fashion

What’s happening in the world of hair and fashion? It’s likely your clients already read style glossies and websites, but as their stylist YOU are their personal consultant in the world of fashion. So show them! Share photos of trending styles that are in keeping with the best your salon has to offer. Also, feel free to add your own spin and comment on the fashions you post. After all, your clients give you money to have opinions and care about THEIR style decisions.

3. Build Trust

For your potential clients, even the idea of visiting a new hair salon can be scary. Imagine going to an unfamiliar salon and getting a hair style you hate! For a client, it’s the true definition of misery.

Posting pictures of the real hair you do in your salon will help people feel comfortable with your judgment and technical ability. I believe it’s an essential part of building trust with your potential clients. Sharing images of the great work you do, especially before and after shots, also helps existing clients get new ideas for their hair. It’s win-win for everyone.

4. Inspiration

People come to you to be inspired by new looks that will bring out their best. Dazzle them with a collection of exciting fringes or the season’s new colours. Demonstrate different ways for clients to style their hair at home, using step-by-step photos or a short video shot from your phone. If you’re excited about a style or technique, your enthusiasm will shine through. Including fun, relevant quotes that inspire your team will also help clients get to know you better.

5. Promotion

Why go to all this trouble? So you can reach out to people tapping away online, and get them sitting in your styling chair. If you’ve given your audience all the value contained in the four points above, you have every right to encourage people to come to your salon and try your services. Don’t be shy!

It’s easy to get this right

Juggling all these ideas may sound tricky, but if you’re organised it doesn’t have to be. To help make it easy I’ve created a free social media Post Planner for Salons. It comes with a whole bunch of great content ideas that make it very easy to get started.

If you don’t yet know your Perfect Client, I strongly suggest you invest the time to learn who they are. It’ll be a game-changer for your business. Cheers!
